S 16
DESCRIPTION
Seal S 16 consist of profiled PTFE ring and NBR rubber O-ring. O-ring takes over the static sealing in groove, while the PTFE profile ring seals the dynamic component (rod). There is an additional hydraulic pressure through deformation of the O-ring additional pressure force in the direction to the rod. That means, this force is growing within growing pressure. The advantage of this sealing system is very low friction, which is both in static and in dynamic range almost same. This avoids the "stick-slip". Smooth motion is achieved even at the slowest stroke. Another advantage is good properities even at a poorly lubricated media, making the short run dry permissible. S 16 provides a space-and cost-saving design. According to the requirement of tightness, one or two seals can be used in row or S 16 in combination with the another seal (U-ring).
MEDIA
This seal (supplied with NBR O-ring normally) is compatible liquids based on mineral oil, water, water-glycol mixture. Working temperature of -40°C is permissible only for short time. Other materials of O-rings working from -60°C to +200°C as well as application with hard-flammable liquids, ester or synthetic based are by request.
